Like an old shoe

Back from Chicago.  It is alarming how easily I have already slipped back into my routine, and here I sit back at my desk, as if I never left.  And after a week of frolicking, merry-making, and asking, “so what ink do you use?” I am happy this is but a four-day work week for me.

Now speaking of routine, I suppose I must thank the TTC for spicing things up a little.  After waiting on the runway in Chicago for nearly 2 hours for a rainstorm to subside, and not having eaten, there was certainly nothing I wanted more than to finally get to good old Lester B Pearson and see a sign saying “TTC temporarily out of order.”

Out of order.  Like it was a payphone.  So I headed back to grab a taxi, tired, sweaty, and trailing overstuffed luggage, when some flight attendants rushed past in a frantic hurry.  Turning around, there was the TTC bus most certainly, and without doubt, not out of order.  I hauled my things back again.

Some eavesdropping confirmed that the transit workers striked (struck? stroke? stricken?) without warning yesterday.  Clearly they heard I was coming, and this was their final payback for my anagram map.

Which brings me to my point (I’m such a windbag this morning; I obviously am avoiding real work). Now that all the hubbub has died down, I’m putting my original, unaltered, uncensored TTC anagram map back online.  Sean Lerner has dutifully hosted the thing without incident now for months, and I no longer fear legal bullying.

For now, grab it here: TTC Anagram Map (PDF), but I will eventually construct a page to be its permanent home (alongside my Groucho Name Generator, which also has no permanent link, and which I was surprisingly asked about this weekend).

YEEEAAHHHH!! Stick it to the man baby! Hell, THEY should be paying YOU for the publicity your map generated. I read the news about the strike yesterday and winced.

Thanks guys, but it’s hardly bravery on my part.  More like an understanding that it was just a lot of hot air to begin with.
