This particular sketch was drawn directly in Photoshop with a Wacom graphics tablet. I then build up layers of pieces in Illustrator with the pen tool and some custom brushes. Then I bring the whole thing into Photoshop where I adjust colours more to my liking, ad add all the textures. I probably had about a dozen different coloured versions until I settled on this orangey one.
Great piece. His expression is especially mischievous. I’ve always thought about getting a Wacom tablet (the biggest one) to do illustration directly onscreen...yet I’ve still never actually used one. Do you often sketch in on the tablet? Have you found the Wacom to save you time on scanning actual line art in?
