Quatre

I’ve been tagged by Grant to participate in one of these kee-razy metadata-gathering memes. I could pretend like it’s some kind of chore and that I’m oh-so-tired of these things, but I secretly love ‘em, so here goes:
Four jobs I’ve had:
- Paperboy - The Kitchener-Waterloo Record
- Parking attendant - The Centre in the Square (a part-time job, I might add, that I share with one-time world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis)
- Graphic designer - CHUM Television
- Freelance illustrator and cartoonist
Four movies I can watch over and over:
- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
- The Hudsucker Proxy
- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
- Star Wars (I resisted putting this one, but I can’t deny it)
Four places I have lived:
- Kitchener, Ontario
- Toronto, Ontario (Yonge and St. Clair)
- Toronto, Ontario (Christie and Dupont)
- Toronto, Ontario (Bloor and Bathurst)
Like Grant, I clearly don’t get around much.
Four television shows I love to watch:
- Lost
- Scrubs
- The Amazing Race
- The Office
Four places I have been on vacation:
- Orlando, Florida (DisneyWorld with the fam!)
- Cork, Ireland
- Scottsdale, Arizona
- Los Angeles, California
Four of my favourite dishes:
- My mom’s pig tails
- PB&J
- Green curry with tofu, veggies, and rice
- Cream of mushroom soup
Four websites I visit daily:
- MetaFilter
- Flickr
- IMDb
- Cartoon Retro
Four places I would rather be right now:
- Typing this from an apartment that’s not in a basement
- Any of the Canadian provinces I haven’t visited (read: all but Ontario)
- Seeing Elvis Costello in concert
- Nowhere (I’m sleepy, so imagining myself being anywhere else other than my bed right now just involves far too much effort)
Four bloggers I am tagging:
- Sarah
- Eva
- Adina
- Mark
Thanks Grant! Grant, it should be said, is a far more impressive type designer than I; the domain gumslinger.com from his list of available domain names was the inspiration for machinegum.com; and I’ve stolen more photos from his Flickr page for desktop wallpaper than I can count. He also contributes to Veer’s inspirational The Skinny.
Sarah says:
Done!

Eva says:
I’ll do this later today. I’ve been tagged on this last week as well, so I should do it twice!
Grant says:
Oh, blush.
Eva says:
I finished my homework.

Ricky Gervais’ Office or the pale American version?
Johnny says:
I only chose shows that are still on, so indeed the “pale American version”. Ricky’s awesome, but I can’t stand all the haters who refuse to give the American version a chance because “I’m a fan of the original, which is sooo much better”. The American version is a damn good show. It took a while to get into its own, but it’s far far better than most of the garbage on TV today. Steve Carell has made the character his own, and he alone is worth the price of admission. The show has Ricky’s blessing, so give it a chance.
beth maher says:
Indeed. I actually… like the new Office better than the old one! There. I said it. But I LOVE Steve Carell. And I think Pam is one hundred times funnier and sweeter and cuter than Dawn ever was. Even if Jim is not quite the same as Tim. And I just don’t think you can compare Gareth and Dwight. They’re both very funny, but completely different. Which is really true of the whole situation.
