I just posted this question over at AskMeFi, but I thought I’d post it here as well… I just bought my first blender. What can I make? Give me your favourite recipes for smoothies, cocktails, and blended whatnots!
Who cares that summer’s nearly over—I’m ready to get my blend on.
Sarah says:
My smoothie tip: instead of using ice cubes, freeze some peeled and halved bananas and use them instead. They make the smoothie nice and cold without watering it down (and I can never get my blender to chop the ice cubes properly). Add some strawberries, plain yogurt and a dash of vanilla extract and you’re ready to go.
But don’t you think it’s funny that your meta responses all seem to involve cilantro? Mwa ha ha!

Avocado, banana, ice, sugar, milk — all to taste.
The trick is that the avocado and bananas be ripe (to be at the peak of sweetness).

Is it the Magic Bullet? That British guy on TV almost has me sold; it only takes like three seconds (albeit three very, very long seconds) to make anything!

Why don’t you ask Brett his secret recipe for Veggie Smoothies.
Sounds great - if you can keep it down.

I think you should be creative! Just throw in random things, and experiment.
If I had a blender, I think I would just go through the kitchen cabinets and the fridge and blend random things. If something would end up tasting unpleasant, I would add some taste-masking ingredients (like apples or vodka or parmesan cheese) and taste again.
I would also get sick, and the blender would break within 3 days.

If you’re ever having a party and want to invite some pink-haired punks, they seem to like white bean/artichoke heart/roasted garlic/spinach dip. It’s just the thing to keep them from going punk on YOUR ass. Make sure to involve them in the dips early in the party…
